This is why you
should always use speed guards, AKA handguards.
Recently I was practicing for a race and got just off track due to all
the snow dust kicking up. It made it hard to see and I basically jousted
a metal fence post. Luckily it hit the rivet on my Sportech speedguard,
took a chunk off of it and scratched the rest up as it deflected off. It
jabbed me in the upper arm tearing right through my new Arctiva race
shell/jacket
and because of the forward momentum I hit the stake from my hand to my
shoulder at about 30-40mph. I was messed up for a week. Sounds bad? It
could have been much worse. If it hadn't been for my Sportech speedguards the point of impact would have been my chest. Now more than
ever I am glad that Sportech builds a quality product and that I have
always used them. Nathan Johnson
